Agenda & Sponsors
Each fall, the Partnership for a
Sustainable Georgia provides a forum for Partner learning,
networking and recognition with its Natural Leaders event.
This Oct. 6, we will use this event to take a look at some
of the untapped potential of the Partnership as a
collaborative network to further sustainability in our
state.
This event will be an Open Space facilitated conversation.
Open Space works best when the work to be done is complex,
the people and ideas involved are diverse, the passion for
resolution is high, and the time to get it done was
yesterday…could there be a better fit for a sustainability
conversation?
You the participant create and manage the agenda for an Open
Space event. We ask you to a take a moment now to
get us your
thoughts on topics for which you have passion. Results
of this survey will serve as a starting point for our day
together. We encourage you to forward this link to any
colleague that you think cares about planning for a
long-term Georgia future based on a balanced eco-economy.

Purpose This activity seeks to help individuals or
businesses increase their visibility within a group
through networking. It provides a fun, structured
process for individuals/businesses to network based
loosely on the "speed dating" concept. The following
objectives apply.
Event Objective:
• To provide a forum for individuals/businesses to
network with one another in a relaxed, fun yet
structured environment.
• To discover new, potential resources.
• To give them an opportunity to self promote their
skills and performance.
• To increase their visibility within a group.
This event is broken down into three components as
follows:
1) Introduction – 10 minutes
2) Networking Rounds – 20 minutes to 60 minutes
depending on number of participants.
3) Group Debrief – 10 minutes
9:00 - 10:00
Speed Networking
Highly scalable and adaptable, OST has been used in
meetings of 5 to 2,100 people. The approach is
characterized by five basic mechanisms:
A broad,
open invitation that articulates the purpose of the
meeting.
Participant chairs arranged in a
circle.
A bulletin board of issues and
opportunities posted by participants.
A
marketplace with many breakout spaces that participants
move freely between, learning and contributing as they
shop for information and ideas.
A breathing or
pulsation pattern of flow, between plenary and
small-group breakout sessions.
Sometimes one or
more additional approaches are used to sort through the
notes, assign priorities and identify what actions
should be taken next. Throughout the process, the ideal
facilitator is described as being fully present and
totally invisible holding a space for participants to
self-organize, rather than managing or directing the
conversations.
